Sharon Gordon was born in Asheville, NC in 1951.  She grew up in the Western North Carolina mountains, then after high school, moved to Jacksonville Beach, FL.  In her early years, she was a wife and mother of four children.  When she became a single mom, she supported her family working in the Mortgage Lending business as an Underwriter for 30 years.  During which she remarried to her current husband, Kenneth Gordon…going on20+ years.

She retired early and went back to school to finish a degree she had been working on part time at her local Community College while being a mom.  She always loved art, wanted to be an art teacher, but life had a detour.  The detour as “Mama” was the best thing in her life.  But now, she wants is an artist…her life dream.  Sharon went back to school full time in 2005 at Haywood Community College of Professional Craft in Textiles.  She studied all facets of textiles with a concentration in weaving and dyeing.  She graduated in 2007 Summa Cum Laude earning the President’s Award for Excellence and the Surface Design’s Student of the Year Award.  She now works in Fine Fiber Craft Design.

Sharon considers herself a never too late in life Artist!
